Terms of service
The deal, in plain English. Last updated 9 August 2026.
Who we are
Above the Sofa sells framed portraits of pets, made from a photo you send us, at abovethesofa.co.uk. Questions about any of this go to hello@abovethesofa.co.uk, where a person reads them.
The deal
- You send one photo. We make three versions of the portrait and show them to you free. Nothing is charged and nothing is printed at this stage.
- If you choose one, you pay the price for your chosen size — £89 for 12×16in, £139 for 18×24in — which includes UK delivery. The version you chose is the version that prints — no substitutions, no surprises.
- If you don't choose one, you owe nothing and no card details were ever taken.
Your photo
Send photos you're allowed to use — your own, or ones the owner is happy for you to use. By sending a photo you give us permission to use it for one purpose: making your portrait. What else we do (and don't do) with it is in the privacy policy.
The artwork
The portrait is generated from your photo, then chosen and refined by us. You approve the exact artwork before it prints. Once delivered, the print is yours; we keep the right to make and sell portraits in our styles for other customers.
Delivery
Allow up to two weeks from payment for printing and UK delivery. Your order confirmation gives a specific arrival date, worked out from the slow end of that range — a date to plan around rather than a best case.
Changes, cancellations and refunds
- Before it prints: ask for a tweak or cancel entirely — full refund, no questions.
- After it prints: each portrait is made for one specific pet, so once printing has started a change of mind isn't refundable — which is exactly why the approval step comes first.
- If we got it wrong: arrived damaged, doesn't match the version you approved, or lost in transit — free reprint or full refund, your choice. Details in delivery & returns.
None of this reduces your statutory rights as a UK consumer.
The boring but honest bits
- Prices are in pounds sterling. We currently deliver to UK addresses.
- If a price or description on the site is plainly wrong, we'll tell you before taking any money, and you can walk away.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
